The pieces are numbered, so there's real counting and simple addition happening underneath the balancing. Younger children just stack; by five or six they're working out which piece will sit where and adding up scores at the end.

It's a two-to-four player game that runs about ten minutes a round, which is roughly the attention span you're working with anyway. Good for siblings of different ages, because a four-year-old can genuinely beat a nine-year-old at it.

Smooth-edged pieces, no sharp corners, and light enough that when it does collapse — and it will — nothing hurts.
